Baptisms, Weddings, Funerals and Confirmation

At St Barnabas we welcome both children and adults who wish to be baptised. This is because we consider baptism to be a very special occasion in a person’s spiritual growth and development in their lives.

The baptism service requires an individual (or in the case of a child, their Godparents) to make a commitment before God, to explore their faith in Christ and make Him the model for their lives.
Once you select a tentative date with the church office (allow at least a month), the Priest will make contact to arrange a time for interview. You are invited over this month, to attend Sunday Worship and to meet the Parish family. Godparents should be baptised members of a Christian Church.

Would you like to be married at St Barnabas? We want to do everything we can to make your wedding service a truly joyful celebration and even more importantly to help you to prepare for your marriage-your union as husband and wife for the rest of your lives.

Couples being married at St Barnabas Orange or St Phillips March are required to undertake marriage preparation “Prepare/Enrich”. At least one month and one day’s notice of the prepared wedding should be given.
Please contact the Parish office (02 6362 7729) to arrange a meeting with Father Gary

Funerals are arranged with the church through the local funeral directors. Father Gary will then help you to plan the service at your convenience.

It is the practice of the Church to baptize infants when their parents ask. Membership of the Church however, requires a personal commitment to Christ and so, those baptised as infants need to re-affirm baptismal promises made by their Godparents at a service of Confirmation. Confirmation is usually offered to those of high school age and above. It is not uncommon for adults to be confirmed and we welcome this decision.
Enquires should be directed to Father Gary.
